darkness into His marvelous light. 1Peter 2:9
As a member of Gamma Pi Christian Sorority Incorporated I pledge to represent myself in a way that is holy and acceptable to God.
I will respect myself and others through my actions.
I will uphold the mission and vision of Gamma Pi Christian Sorority, Incorporated.
I will promote unity within the sisterhood and I will be a Godly example to other young women, our church and the world.
In February 2006, George-Jean Ann Edwards was at home with her sick
son when she was given the vision by God to start a Christian sorority. She began to get into contact with her mother Shirley Noble (First Lady of Restoration Bible Church) and Evangelist Kathei McCoy to ask them for their help as she moved forward with the vision. They agreed to help and ideas were put together.
On April 8, 2006 the sorority was established but without an official name. George-Jean put together an overnight girl’s retreat open to all the girls of Restoration Bible Church between the ages of 13 and 18. It was during that time the girls (Chanler Frazer, Nate’ Green, Rachel Woodland, Sabrina Johnson, Timese Taylor) that attended were presented with the idea of the sorority. On April 23, 2006, the name Gamma Pi (AKA God’s Princesses) was created and our sorority colors were picked.
By June 2006 Gamma Pi had Big Sisters (George-Jean Edwards, Aneshia Johnson, and Evangelist Kathei McCoy) and Sorority Mothers (Evangelist Stacey Joyner and First Lady Evangelist Shirley Noble). God’s Princesses were blessed to do their first step performance in front of the church in August 2006.
The sorority flower; pink stargazer lily, was later picked on December 14, 2006 by the Big Sisters and Sorority Mothers. The lily was picked because it is First Lady Evangelist Shirley Noble’s favorite flower. Throughout the year of 2006 there were many social gatherings and new members that joined. Up until December 28, 2006 Gamma Pi was known as God’s Princesses. Gamma Pi Christian Sorority, Inc. is the first Christian sorority in Washington State.
In 2009 after much praying the members of Gamma Pi Christian Sorority, Inc. along with the visionary founder made a decision to change the age requirement from ages 13-18 to ages 18 and older. Our focus then moved to developing a mentoring program that matched the members up with girls ages 13-17 as mentors teaching them Christian values and characters, with the goal of them becoming future members of Gamma Pi Christian Sorority, Inc.
The mission of Gamma Pi Christian Sorority Incorporated is to equip Christian women with the tools to grow and develop into various women according to the word of God.
